Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and vanilla essence. Add flour, little at a time to make a soft and non sticky dough. Divide the dough into seven small balls.
Roll out each ball like a thin roti. place on baking tray and bake in moderate oven until it reaches the colour of biscuit. The last roti must be slightly darker in colour and crispy and set aside.
When the six rotis are cool - layer each roti with thick custard of your choice and arrange the rotis on top of each other.
Apply custard on the top of the cake and crush the last roti and sprinkle on top.
Place the cake in the fridge for and hour.
Slice into wedges or cubes.
